Gosh where do I start, this was an incredible night of beautiful music and even more incredible performances by an array of Australian leading lights of the music industry.
At the beginning of the night it was great to hear people in the audience sharing their stories of when they first heard Paul Kelly’s music. For me I remember seeing Paul Kelly and the Dots on Countdown and that was it, I was a goner. And yes, that was almost thirty years ago.
The backing band consisted of some blokes you may know….
and
And look there were even some
as the musical director for the event had the unenviable task of filling in on stage during the gaps in between artists and he managed to keep everyone entertained.
Performers included
who sang a beautiful version of Meet Me in the Middle of the Air,

John then invited Missy Higgins and Dan Sultan back on stage to join him in singing From Big things Little Things Grow

They were then joined by everyone on stage for the final chorus

And then just when we thought it was over the second surprise of the night….

Paul sang Leaps and Bounds and was joined by

and then everyone else joined in for the finale
………. and a good time was had by all
The End.

Excellent new ID photo Mel, you look beautiful
Excellent photos in general. Dimples should be illegal. I haven’t seen a western tie since old photos of my big brother at his First Holy Communion aged nine.
smiles… thanks Sam. I totally agree about the dimples and western ties but damn he looks so good in it.
I cannot tell a lie – I was referring to ed’s dimples, which I’ve not had opportunity to sight before.
